His nose got badly broken playing football... It took four adjustments to straighten and set before it was vertically straight. The inferior turbinate of the cavity opposite the swelling did not englare, which would have reduced airflow. After the swelling went down there was a small bump over the bridge that did require surgery, a septoplasty, to fix the nasal septum.
